These are steps you can take to improve your SEO after site launch.

  • Add your website url to each of your social media profiles

  • If you have a business, create a Google Business accound and keep it active with posts and responding to reviews

  • Get backlinks for your website

    • Get listed on your local Chamber of Commerce site or other relevant directories

  • Keep your site active

    • Add/update your projects regularly

  • Do a simple SEO refresh in the spring following the SEO Best Practices Checklist. You can follow the same checklist for the fall as well.

HOW TO USE THE CANVA TEMPLATES (I had the settings to show only my window so, it didn’t show my folder I was uploading from but if you follow along with what I’m saying, you’ll be able to do the same with selecting more than one item to upload. Also - when I said the ‘tab’ key, I meant the ‘option’ key :)

  • Sign in to your Canva account.

  • Click the image size template that you want. The link will open in your Canva account.

  • Click the button to use the template.

  • Rename the image to your desired name of the image (remember this is a great place to help with SEO so if it makes sense, use a keyword.

  • Upload your image or graphic and click it to add to the frame. (Delete the image frame if you don’t need it. The template is in the optimal size for images in Squarespace. So you’re set!)

  • If using an image, either right click to fill the frame or click and wiggle the image to fill the frame. Double click the image to adjust it in the frame if needed.

  • Download/Export the image by clicking ‘Share’. Download. Then select PNG and adjust the quality or size (if you have a Canva pro account). If you don’t have a Canva pro account you can use tinypng.com (see here on page 5 for how to do that.)

  • Click to download.

HOW TO TAKE OFF SUGGESTED VIDEOS FROM THE END OF YOUR YOUTUBE EMBEDDED VIDEOS

  • Walkthrough video

  • Start by editing your video block

  • make sure you have your youtube link

  • paste it into the video url

  • wait for it to find it

  • click the </> sign to open the embedded data for this video

  • select it all and copy it

  • click to go back

  • delete the url

  • click the </> sign to go back to embedded data

  • paste what you just copied

  • look through the iframe (the link data that was added)

  • find the youtube.com 2f watch

  • go past the 3fv% (that is the youtube link related to your video) go to the end of that

  • right before the ampersand sign before the word ‘image’

  • type in %26rel=0 (no spaces)

  • save
